🦃 Happy Thanksgiving Break, Heron Families! 💙

We want to express our deepest gratitude and thanks for all of our wonderful Heron families! We hope you have a relaxing and joyous Thanksgiving break.
We look forward to seeing all of our students back at school, refreshed and ready, on Monday, December 1st!
🎄 December is Delightful!
As we transition right into December, we have so many exciting activities planned!
  • 📈 FAST Progress Monitoring Assessments:
    • Testing will take place during the first few weeks of December. Please be sure to check the specific date for your child on the monthly Heron Highlights form.
    • These assessments help us celebrate the wonderful progress your student has made so far!
    • To help your child shine, please ensure they get a good night's sleep before their assessment day.
    • As always your child may enjoy a free breakfast in the school cafeteria as a reminder!
  • 📚 Reading Fun & Book Fair:
    • Mark your calendars for Reading Night on Thursday, December 4th from 5:30-7:00 pm, featuring a special performance by our fantastic Chorus at 5:00 pm! Cafeteria doors will not open for Reading Night until 5:30 pm to ensure an uninterrupted chorus performance.
    • The Book Fair will be here from December 1st - December 4th.  All classes can shop the fair during their scheduled media period that week. Students in 2nd through 5th grade may shop the fair between 8:10 am and 8:40 am provided they received a pass from the teacher first.  Friday's media classes will visit the library as a class earlier in the week. The Book Fair will be open at Reading Night on Thursday, December 4th.  Families can shop with their student during this time.  We are still in need of volunteers to help during the Book Fair. There is an open slot on Monday from 10:15 am to 12:15 pm. Please contact Gina Dickerson if you are interested in volunteering at gina.dickerson@yourcharlotteschools.net

  • 🎁 PTO Wonderland Gift Shop:
    • The VES PTO is hosting a special Wonderland Gift Shop for all students to purchase small, affordable gifts.
    • Each classroom will have the opportunity to visit the shop on Thursday, December 11th and Wednesday, December 17th.
    • The shop will also be open during the Family Reading Center time on Wednesday, December 17th.
    • Look for a Wonderland Shop flyer and envelope coming home with your student right after the Thanksgiving break! A sample is shared with this message.
